Bookstore Review: The Book Rack in Springfield, IL

I often go to Springfield, IL for family gatherings as most of my mom’s side of the family lives there. Being a book lover, The Book Rack was a favorite stop of mine. I remember my grandma taking me there, and I would spend hours as a little girl looking at everything. It was one of my favorite places in Springfield, but I remember going a few years ago and they seemed to have shut down. However, on my most recent trip to Springfield, I found out they’re still open! They had just been remodeling, so of course I had to check it out.

The Book Rack is located at 2943 W White Oaks Dr # 3, Springfield, IL 62704. They closed off a section from when I used to go there (it’s now a Pilates studio), but they expanded the other way, and it seems much more organized than it was before.

They only sell used books, which I love browsing used bookstores. You never know what you’ll find, and you often can’t beat the price. I could spend hours in a used bookstore, just looking at every single book for anything that catches my eye. You can sell your used books there and receive a credit for future purchases. They also have a lot of local artists’ items, such as bookmarks, stickers and crocheted/knitted stuffed animals.

On this trip I didn’t have much time to browse, so I just bought the second Emily Wilde book, Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands by Heather Fawcett.

If you’re ever in Springfield, IL, consider checking out The Book Rack! I know I’ll be going almost every time I’m in town now that I know they’re still open.
