When Katie Met Cassidy by Camille Perri is a 264-page lesbian romance novel. Katie Daniels is a perfection-seeking 28-year-old lawyer living the dream in New York. She engaged to a charming art curator, Paul Michael, and has successfully made her way up the corporate ladder at a multinational law firm. She’s come a long way from growing up in Kentucky.
But when she’s suddenly dumped by her fiancé, she’s completely devastated and lost. On a whim she goes out for a drink with Cassidy Price, a confident, sexually promiscuous woman Katie meets at work. The two form an unlikely friendship, which quickly brings into question everything Katie thought she knew about sex, and love.
This book has two very strong female characters who I just adored. They both are well defined in their ambitions and personalities and had meaningful character growth throughout the story. Katie and Cassidy’s romance felt realistic; Perri’s writing is full of humor but also some conflict to keep the tension and interest throughout the story. I also loved the sincerity and depth for Katie’s journey of questioning and coming to terms with her sexuality.
Apparently, there’s a movie that will be released in theaters sometime in 2025, so I’m excited to see how closely it follows the book!
I give When Katie Met Cassidy 5 stars.
