September 2025 Reading Wrap-Up

September was very busy with unexpected travel for work and just wrapping up the quarter as well for my job, so I was only able to finish two books. I’m a little disappointed in myself, but I’m glad I was able to at least finish those since it seemed like I wouldn’t finish any! My YTD is now 43, so I am still on track to finish 50 books by the end of the year.

What I Read

The South Wind by Alexandria Warwick

432 pages | Romantasy | 4 stars

I bought the limited edition from Once Upon a Book Club so it would match the other two in the series (check out my unboxing post). It wasn’t as spicy as the first two books, but I loved Sarai and The South Wind’s relationship dynamic. I also liked the labyrinth mythology sprinkled in. Plus reading it with the gifts from Once Upon a Book Club made it special.

Out of the Ashes by Courtney Peppernell

201 pages | Poetry Collection | 3 stars

This is the newest collection from Courtney Peppernell. I always grab her poetry collections, but this one was focused more on bouncing back after a devastating breakup, so I didn’t resonate with it as much as her past collections.

Favorite Book of the Month

My favorite book of the month was The South Wind by Alexandria Warwick. It was a bit different from the other two books in the series, but I really enjoyed the inclusion of the mythology with the monster in the labyrinth. Also reading it with the gifts from Once Upon a Book Club made it special.
